Keeping up with Digital Marketing

5 great training platforms for Digital Marketing

Published: Thursday, November 20, 2014   /   Categories: Education

Digital marketing, it is an ever evolving and changing field. What you trained on a year ago can be completely outdated.  However, that does not mean you stop training.  It just means you keep training, and training, and training.  Being in marketing and taking part in digital marketing means being in a constant state of learning and growing.  Facebook changes occur almost daily and new platforms are popping up every month.  When I speak about digital marketing, I am talking about so much more than social media.  It has grown into a whole specialized field within the field of marketing.   Digital marketing includes search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), display ads, analytics, pay per clicks, social media and more.  Of course the benefits of the internet, which digital marketing grew from, provide plenty of ways to learn and grow.  You will find there is no shortage of information out there and it can be, at times, overwhelming.  I find it is best to seek a couple of platforms that you are comfortable with and stick to them, as a way of preventing being overwhelmed with all the input. I will review a few of the ways you can keep up with the changes in digital marketing.

Social Media Examiner:

Social media examiner is an all-inclusive training platform.  Not only do they hold special virtual training events, and in person conferences, they have one of the best newsletters that give you a run-down of all the changes happening in digital marketing.     Their website has a wealth of information on various topics.   Click here to like them on Facebook or visit their website.

Coggno:

Coggno is an online training system that is available to our chamber members.  They offer a variety of trainings to help update your skills that are inexpensive and easy to use.  They are perfect for beginners and small business owners that wear many hats.  They offer courses such as Twitter Marketing for Small Business, Facebook for Small business and many more.  Click here to see a listing of their trainings on our website.

Hootsuite University:

Hootsuite University is a certification and monthly subscription program for training.   They cover mostly social media and also focus much of their training on how to use their own software.  The training helps you “master” the Hootsuite software, which is a great tool for managing multiple social media accounts. Click here to visit their website and learn more about Hootsuite University.

Facebook for Business:

Like them on Facebook!  Facebook for business is a page operated by Facebook themselves that gives you a heads up to many of the new changes.    Click here to like them on Facebook.

Market Motive:

Market Motive is what I would call the leader in training when it comes to digital marketing.  If you are a marketing professional and you want to take your skills to the next level, this is the program you need to research.  They provide training for some of the top companies and white label their services to top universities such as Duke, Rutgers, and Benedictine University.  They offer their classes in fully coached or self-paced versions.  Click here to learn more about Market Motive training programs.

These are just a few of the best platforms I have found for keeping up with this ever changing landscape of digital marketing.   However, the most important part is to jump in and do it.  Best of luck to you and happy learning!
