Proud of our Chamber Team

Published: Monday, October 10, 2016   /   Categories: Leadership

An event that draws thousands of people into a single venue requires an enormous collaboration of staff, volunteers, vendors, and participants.  The weeks prior to the event were filled with some tension. Facilitating our everyday mission, and two staff positions, required everyone to pitch in where needed.  Adding in the timeliness of our Chamber’s highest attended event, our Events Director, Megan Colling was laser focused to ensure the smallest of details were covered. When the Chamber office closed on Friday (day before Oktoberfest), our team had all reached their hours for the week.  During the week, our Chamber hosted the Nebraska State Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a Legislative Forum, held a Coffee and Connections at “Just for Ladies,” coordinated Career Exploration Day for high school students in the area, and set-up the Buffalo County fairgrounds for Oktoberfest.  On Saturday, everyone showed up early, ready to help, and in great moods for OKTOBERFEST. Oktoberfest executed flawlessly when the taps shut off at 11:00pm and participants continued conversations until about midnight.  The hours that followed are the true testament to the nature of our Chamber team. Clean-up concluded at 2:45am and at the end of it all, Megan had put in a 17 hour day. Elizabeth, Shanna, and Sharon all put in a 13 hour day, and our newest member to the Chamber team, Megan Berry put in an 8 hour day prior to her official start date in the Chamber Office. This group never complained, never said “No” and never gave up.  What impresses me the most is everyone was at the Chamber office on Monday, ready to go and again on time.  The feeling of exhaustion was all over me but together our team acted as though it was just another week and everyone was proud that there weren’t any mistakes made. Our chamber team is made up of leaders and individually they each have 100% of my respect and trust. Thank you Chamber Staff for your commitment to our Mission and congratulations to a work week well done!
