HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE HAS A "REEL" GOOD TIME AT KEARNEY CINEMA 8!

On Thursday, April 13th, Kearney Cinema 8 General Manager, Bobby Wilson, welcomed the Hospitality & Events Committee to view the newly renovated theater. The establishment reopened its doors after being closed for over twenty months. After the effects of Floods in 2019, COVID in 2020, and the July Storm of 2021, customers finally get a chance to experience the thrill of Cinema 8, once again.

Committee members were treated to concessions from the lobby and a view of the pre-show advertisements and trailers for upcoming movies.

New seating is one of the improvements to the theater. Bobby mentioned he decided against electric reclining seats. Nearby hotels bring traffic over the bridge creating large groups to seat; reclining seating would've meant less seats in each theater room, as well as raised ticket prices. The new leather seats do have a slight recline motion, creating the comfort required to enjoy a full feature film.

Bobby commented there are still improvements on their way. They plan to expand the concessions to include gourmet popcorn and coffee, as well as a small bistro area. The summer will offer a kids series of older films for free, provided by generous sponsors. If anyone is interested in sponsorship, please contact Bobby at bwshowman@gmail.com.
