SENIOR COALITION VISITS THE PETERSON SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER

The Peterson Senior Activity Center is not a senior center in the traditional sense. They are a place where adults can enjoy a vibrant retirement filled with activities, the company of great friends, continued learning and opportunities to use their talents to serve others. They operate under the umbrella of the City of Kearney Park and Recreation Department.




The meal program is managed by the Community Action Partnership of Mid Nebraska and sponsored in part by South Central Area Agency on Aging and City of Kearney. Reservations required 24 hours in advance.

For those over the age of 60 - Suggested donation of $5.50 (dine in) & $6.00 (takeout).

For those under the age of 60 - Set rate of 7.50 (dine-in) & $8.00 (take-out).

Opportunities for new adventures at the Peterson Activity Center include, but are not limited to:

· Ukulele Classes -must bring your own ukulele. Beginners and advanced beginner levels provided.

· Craft Classes – create a cork Christmas tree!

· Live music by the Merrymakers!

· Movie night! – reservations only – this month is Top Gun: Maverick

· Quirky Quilters – bring your latest project to show!

· Cardio Drumming – ignite your inner drummer with this upbeat class!

· Line Dancing – Friday’s 9:00 a.m. beginners/ 10:00 a.m. advanced

· Holiday Dinner – Beef bourguignon, baked potato, appetizers, and desserts!

· Holiday Light Festival – Senior Center SNEAK PEAK night on Dec 6th!

· Pinochle Tournament – Nov 17 ------ 10-Point Pitch – Nov 30 ------ Shuffle Board Dec 8


High School students offer to teach free classes after school to those who may be having difficulties with technology. Whether it be phones, iPads, Computers, tablets, or anything else you’re having technical difficulties with, these kids will kindly offer their time to assist and help make it easier.

The basement of the facility offers a library, exercise area, and a cardio area for classes. There’s even a pool table and shuffle board! For more information on the Peterson Senior Activity Center, visit the www.cityofkearney.org.
