If you’re a Kearney local, you know Thunderhead Brewery. Best known for their unique labels designed by Marc Finley, a UNK graduate, delicious pretzels and stone-fired pizza, Thunderhead has been a Kearney staple since 1999. What started as a small bar with only 8 seats, Thunderhead today is in one of Kearney’s historic downtown buildings and seats 80 with plenty of space for pool and other games.
A favorite for his interest in the Kearney community, owner Trevor Schaben goes above and beyond from attending many local events to hosting private dinners. He is great about sharing his process and answering any questions attendees may have. If you visit Thunderhead’s website, you will see videos of Trevor explaining different processes and other aspects of his business.
Thunderhead Brewery currently has 4 locations, sell their cans in many stores, and host guest taps all over the state. You can visit Thunderhead in Kearney, Grand Island, Downtown and West Omaha, or their brewing room in Axtell. The brewing room will give you a unique perspective that you can’t see elsewhere because you can view the entire process as well as try a few samples of freshly brewed beer!
In case you were wondering why we are sharing all this info, we are gearing up for Oktoberfest and will be sharing the background of each of our breweries and food vendors attending. Thunderhead Brewery has attended Oktoberfest in Kearney every year since it began. Trevor says that Oktoberfest is his favorite event to bring his craft beers because the event is well attended and supports people like him who are there to share what they love: beer!

Oktoberfest is October 19, 2019 from 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds Expo Building.
VIP Tickets are $40
General Admission tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Pre-sale tickets will also be available for members at a discounted rate.
Beer and food vendors will be in attendance as well as many fun games, activities, and live music from Soca Jukebox!
