Veronica and Armando Piñon have proudly called Kearney home since 1993. What began as a move for work soon became a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and community. Along with their daughter Nadia, they have spent more than three decades building memories, friendships, and traditions in the place they lovingly call their home and haven of comfort. From the very beginning, the Piñons felt embraced by the warmth and generosity of Kearney’s people and quickly fell in love with the sense of connection that makes this community so special. Over the years, they have watched the town grow and flourish while still holding on to its small-town heart, something they deeply cherish and value.
The Piñons enjoy exploring all that Kearney has to offer. On weekends, you might find them catching a movie at The World Theatre, attending a concert, cheering at a local event, or dining at one of the many restaurants they love to support. They take pride in visiting small businesses, meeting new faces, and discovering hidden gems that add to the city’s charm and welcoming character. When the weather is nice, few things bring them more joy than spending time outdoors in Kearney’s beautiful parks. Harmon, Yanney, and Cottonmill are among their favorite places to walk, relax, and enjoy the beauty of every season. Over the years, they’ve taken countless family photos in these parks, each one a reminder of laughter, love, and the special moments that define their life together.
Faith and service are at the heart of the Piñons’ lives. They are active members of St. James, Prince of Peace, and the Newman Center, where they find purpose, belonging, and joy through worship and community involvement. They also dedicate time to supporting UNK students and engaging with Kearney’s Hispanic community, finding fulfillment in giving back to the town that has given them so much. Their neighborhood, much like Kearney itself, is friendly, compassionate, and full of care. Neighbors often stop by just to say hello, a simple gesture that means the world to them. Veronica and Armando treasure these everyday moments that remind them of the kindness and connection that make Kearney feel like one big family.
After more than 30 years, the Piñons can’t imagine living anywhere else. For them, Kearney isn’t just a place on the map; it’s a community built on comfort, connection, and care—a true home in every sense of the word.
